DISTRIBUTION OF NESCAFE COLD COFFEE AT THE MALL, DARJEELING

Members of the Lions Club of Darjeeling handed over cases of Nescafe' Cold Coffee for the consumption of those undergoing quarentine at Bhanu Bhawan along with COVID 19 worriors consisting of police personnel, volunteers and staff stationed at Chowrasta Police Outpost & Bhanu Bhawan.The programme at the Bhanu Bhawan was conducted in the presence of Mr Lakpa Tamang Quarantine Centre Incharge.

We wish to inform you that the members of the Lions Club of Darjeeling handed over dry rations to Edith Wilkins Street Children Trust,Hermitage, Darjeeling on 1st May,2020.

I am happy to give hereunder a REPORT on the above-mentioned program:
"Responding to the requirement of dry rations by the Edith Wilkins Street Children Trust the Lions Club of Darjeeling stepped into handover 100 kgs Rice,50 kgs Potatoes,1 Carton Refined Oil and Lifeboy Soap to the trust in order to help it maintain it's destitute children during the ongoing lockdown living up to the motto WHERE THERE IS A NEED THERE IS A LION"

“Upaahar” programme held on 4th January 2020  by The  Lion’s  Club  of  Darjeeling at Darjeeling

"Upaahar" programme held on 4th January 2020 from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m at the Sishu Bhawan run by the Missionaries of Charity, Darjeeling.

Members of the Lions Club of Darjeeling distributed new woollens, blankets, socks, beverages and snacks to the elderly, mentally challenged inmates of the Sishu Bhawan run by the Missionaries of Charity, Darjeeling. Environment-friendly degradable cloth bags produced by Lions Club were used.

The above-mentioned program was carried out under "Upaahar" One District One Activity. All the items distributed were sponsored by members of the club.

The Lion's Club of Darjeeling distributed around 150 kgs . of Rice, Dal, Aata and Salt to 51 beneficiaries belonging to the poor and weaker sections of society from
11 : 00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on 14th January ,2020 at Ajit Mansions , Nehru Road Darjeeling.

The above mentioned program was carried our under the program " The Rice Bag Challenge ", One Multiple One Activity and coincided with both the birth anniversary of Melvin Jones the founder of Lions Club International and the start of the festival of Makar Sankranti.

Diabetes Screening and Consultation Camp

Lions Club of Darjeeling organized a Diabetes Screening and Consultation Camp on Sunday,17th November 2019 from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m under One Multiple One Activity at the Hawa Ghar, Chowrasta. Over 100 persons went in for"random sugar tests".Those diagnosed with having high blood sugar levels were given consultation and group counselling by Dr.Bikas Dewan Consultant Doctor for the programme. They were further given"eye check ups"by Dr Jamyang Gyatso Consultant Opthalmologist.The random sugar tests were conducted by staff of the Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital run Eye Care Center,Ghoom. Pamphlets on Diabetes-Symptoms, Complications and Treatment were distributed among the patients and the public at large.

Journey of Peace

Lions Club of Darjeeling sponsored a Peace Poster Contest with the theme"Journey of Peace".The same was held today i.e Saturday,19th October,at Mary Hall, Southfield College, Darjeeling from 10:00 a.m to 01:00 p.m.A total of 60 students of both the ICSE and Madhyamik Boards participated in the contest namely St.Robert's School,Mount Hermon School,Notre Dame Academy,R.K.S.P, Darjeeling Govt.High School,Turnbull Higher Secondary School,St.Joseph's School,St.Paul's School, Darjeeling Hindi Higher Secondary School and Municipal Girl's Higher Secondary School.
Kalpit Gurung of St.Robert's School stood first winning a trophy and Certificate of Achievement followed by Shams Ur Rahman of St.Paul's School and Hang Sewa Rai of St.Joseph's School who stood second and third winning trophies and Certificates of Achievement too.Consolation prizes were handed over to Nyidi Taring and Prince Raj Prasad of St.Paul's School and St.Joseph's School successively.All the remaining contestants were handed over Certificates of Appreciation.Noted artist Hemu Rai and artist Saroj Tirwa officiated as judges for the programme.Mr Rai gave a talk to motivate the students to further perfect their artistic skills.Snacks, fruits and refreshments were served to all the contestants, teachers and parents at the end of the programme by the Lions Club of Darjeeling.

Saheli Programme at Darjeeling Hindi Higher Secondary School

Lady members of the Lions Club of Darjeeling conducted a sanitary pad distribution program under "Saheli" at Darjeeling Hindi Higher Secondary School, opp. GDNS Ground, Darjeeling, on Thursday 26th September 2019 from 11:00 a.m-01:00 p.m wherein pads were distributed to 60 girls from economically weaker sections of society after a talk on personal hygiene and sanitation by one of our members.
